Mr RAKESH Mathur is a Hospitality Industry professional with over forty five years of leadership experience in highly-acclaimed Indian and Global hotel groups.
Mr. Mathur was the first CEO, BASS (now IHG) Hotels & Resorts, South & West Asia, and later PRESIDENT of ITC WelcomeHeritage Hotels, where he pioneered the Heritage and Circuit Tourism movement in India, before retirement in 2011. After Schooling in Shimla and Graduation in Economics Honours from SRCC, Delhi University, He joined Oberoi Hotels in 1973 as a Management Trainee and grew in the Industry and worked with Global and Multinational Hotel Organizations. Apart from his professional affiliations, Mr. Mathur is Associated with several Industry and Philanthrophic activities. He is Co-Founder & Hon. Secretary of Ecotourism Society of India, Co-Founder & Advisor FAITH & NIT, on Executive Committees of IHHA, INTACH, AURO UNIVERSITY, ITRHD, and Chairman of HI-AIM, a platform of Hospitality Industry technocrats Mr. Mathur is also recipient of The Karamveer Patra from ICONGO for pioneering the CODE OF CONDUCT for SAFE &HONOURABLE TOURISM , officially endorsed by UNODC and adopted by the Ministry of Tourism, The PATWA Award for pioneering Heritage and Circuit Tourism, The 2006 Hospitality India Award for ‘Pioneering Efforts in Developing Heritage Tourism, and The 2016 HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY- AIM (COLOMBO) AWARD for CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY He is a Paul Harris Member of the Rotary Club of Delhi Southend, Hon. President of Save the Children India ( Delhi) and runs a personal Charitable Foundation engaged in poor and orphaned childrens’ health and education. Apart from his own Investments in Woodbridge Guest Homes, Mr. Rakesh Mathur has recently been co-opted as a Director and Principal Advisor to the LORDS HOTELS & RESORTS Group where he works closely with the Promotors and top management, guiding them in areas of product and service quality enhancement, operational efficiency, organizational development, growth within and outside India, and CSR. Mr Mathur is widely travelled, father of two sons and a daughter and two grand daughters, who all enjoy Photography, Arts, Cinema and Travel
