To pursue his hobby and passion in vintage & classic cars, in 1996 Tarun founded Heritage Transportation Trust (HTT) a registered not for profit Trust to promote the preservation of modes of transportation that have been used in India.

As its Founder & Managing Trustee, HTT developed India’s first comprehensive Transport Museum: Heritage Transport Museum, which opened its doors to visitors in December 2013. Heritage Transport Museum is located on the outskirts of New Delhi near Gurgaon and has being built on a 3.01-acre land encompassing 95,000 square feet area with Exhibition Galleries, Library & Reference Centre, Mini Auditorium, Museum Souvenir Shop, Seminar Rooms, and a Refreshment Area. The Museum sets the standard for Indian museums with its dramatic displays, in-depth interpretation, extensive collection and exciting opportunities for visitor participation. Tarun has donated his entire personal collection to the Heritage Transport Museum that includes 100 Vintage & Classic cars, 20 Vintage & classic commercial vehicles, 25 classic two wheelers, 30 non motorized modes of Transport, Steam locomotives, rail saloon, tram, vintage aircraft, a huge collection of aquatints, lithographs, books, manuals, philately, memorabilia, etc. The museum is home to more than 3,500 curated objects on display that weave a tale of India’s colorful transportation history. Since its opening the Museum has inspired more than 500,000 visitors. These visitors have comprised of: school children through organized school trips, university students, domestic & foreign tourist groups, families from Delhi, Gurgaon & adjoining areas, members of various automobile clubs, architects, designers, researchers, etc. During 2016 the Museum won two prestigious awards - The National Tourism Award for being the most Innovative & Unique tourism project in the country and the 2016 Traveler's Choice Award by TripAdvisor. In 2017, the Museum won the International PATWA award for its innovation at ITB, Germany, the ITCTA award for Best Heritage Museum, the North India Travel Award for the most Innovative Tourist destination amongst many others. In 2018, the Museum again won the Traveler’s Choice award by TripAdvisor for the Top Ten Museum’s in the country.
